 Established with the mission to put Nepal on the world tea map, the organization initiated its tea journey by commencing Nepal’s first tea export in 1973. Today, the organization stands as the oldest exporter and leading producer, blender, consolidator and packager of finer quality Himalayan teas in Nepal. 
 
Around the turn into the 21st century, numerous questions were raised on the continued existence of Himalayan tea. It was realized that although Nepal makes teas that are amongst the finest in the world, the fact was largely unheard-of by most consumers. The reasons - Nepalese teas have always either been blended into other finer teas of the world or sold singularly as high-end teas at huge premiums without any mention of its origin. This practice has continually deprived the Nepalese tea producing community of a fair price, progressive development and more importantly in the long term, it’s significance. 
 
It was whilst answering these questions that the brand, Rakura was envisioned - a novel marque that would work to defy the status quo by working to promote real awareness for Himalayan teas around the world while earning fair prices at source to create lasting sustainability for the entire ecosystem - from the grass roots and up. Accordingly, Rakura brand of teas, built on the groups almost 50 years of experience, was introduced in 2012 / 2013, embracing the finest teas, standards, systems and technology for the first time in the history of Nepal, to truly revolutionize Nepal’s tea industry and give it new direction. Today, Rakura continues to break new ground with every single step to change the face of Nepalese tea while creating sustainability for farmers, community, industry and country.
